So it’s finally happening. The rivers and streams in the area are starting to come into shape. We have been busy guiding our clients to strong healthy fish that have had a good break from fishing pressure because of the flows over the past month and a half on select rivers. This past weekend I guided good client and friend Matt Solo, we fished Hot Creek on sat. And float tubed Grant Lake on sun. The fishing was superb both days. Hot Creek has good hatches of mayflies, stoneflies, midges and caddis coming off through out the day,FISH’EM ALL!! The flows are high still but the water is clear now and fishing is awesome! Ty and Terry where guiding down there as well and had great fishing. The Upper Owens is coming into play as well, water is clearing, flows are still high but fishing is great…….Put on an entire can of bug spray or you will be eaten alive!!
Flows on our river, I mean the East Walker, have dropped in the last day to 550 cfs, this is still a difficult flow to fish. Knowing where the fish hold and what bugs they are selecting is key, as well as a buddy to help land these beast. Never the less we are killing it here right now! So far this year we have landed many fish over the 22inch mark. Terry and I taped one out at 24 inches!
We will be spending a lot of time guiding in the Bridgeport area as the flows remain and begain to drop.
As for the lakes we have been guiding Crowley,Grant,Twin,Bridgeport res. And some others. Fishing has been awesome and water temps are perfect. We are fishing huge hatches of damsels, calibeatis and midges which have been producing large fish. I’ll have my camera back soon……Then you will believe me! He he
